SSTV image sent from International Space Station to mark 15th anniversary of ARISS (NASA Image)
Astronauts aboard the International Space Station
celebrated 15 years of continuous amateur radio operations aboard the ISS in
April with a series of slow-scan television (SSTV) transmissions. According to
the ARRL Letter, the images were
photos of some of the hams who have spent time on the station since the Amateur
Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) program was initiated in
November of 2000. The SSTV transmissions were supposed to have taken place
closer to the actual anniversary date but were delayed due to other priorities
for the station crew.
