Indian Hams Help With Election Reporting

The government of the Indian state of West Bengal recruited ham radio operators to help report election results in far-flung islands of a remote archipelago. According to Newsline, the islands have poor or non-existent mobile phone service, so hams were asked to relay the results of recent Assembly elections to the central tabulating stations.
