Inmarsat Promotes Services it Provided to VP8PJ DXpedition

Commercial satellite provider Inmarsat Government is telling the world about the telephone and internet services it provided to the recent VP8PJ DXpedition to Signy Island in the South Orkney island group off Antarctica.

A story posted on Yahoo Finance in early April did not include the expedition's call sign but did note that it was carried out by the Perseverance DX Group, "a nonprofit expedition organization that conducted record-setting, multi-mode high frequency (HF) communications using amateur radio frequencies," adding that the team "also tested satellite communications and new amateur radio technologies in this remote region of the world." The announcement noted that the group used Inmarsat's internet services to work with school groups as well as its Global Satellite Phone Service.
