New “.radio” Top-Level Domain Now Available

Add “.radio” to the list of available “top level domains” for internet addresses, along with the better-known “.com”, “.org” and “.net”.  The  domain is being managed by the European Broadcasting Union, which will limit registrants to people or companies directly involved with radio. This includes hams, as well as radio stations, radio industry professionals, radio-related companies and a few more categories. During the launch period, which runs through October 31, individual amateurs may register a .radio domain for $30. As of November 1, domains will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the ARRL Letter, although the basic eligibility criteria will remain.
