Jeff Martin, K5WE, has been awarded the 2016 Cass award for his one-man DXpedition last May and June from Easter Island. The award, named in memory of former West Coast DX Bulletin publisher and editor Hugh "Cass" Cassidy, WA6AUD (SK), is sponsored by Club Log, DX Lab and the Northern California DX Club. It recognizes DXpeditions that work the greatest number of different stations over a two-week interval. K5WE, operating for 12 days as XR0YS, logged 7,040 separate callsigns during his time on Easter Island. (CQ will have an article about a different Easter Island one-man DXpedition in its October 2017 issue.)

The awards to date have honored only individual DXpeditioners. Starting next year, the sponsors say a second "unlimited" award will be added to honor the multi-operator DXpedition that works the greatest number of  different stations. For more information, visit www.cassaward.com.
