European Regulators Reviewing 23-Centimeter Band

The European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) is taking a close look at amateur radio and amateur satellite operations in the 23-centimeter (1.2 GHz) band, due to reports of interference from amateur operations to the Galileo GPS satellite constellation.

The AMSAT News Service reports that IARU Region 1 representatives are working closely with CEPT regulators on the matter. Interference reportedly has come from certain amateur TV transmissions as well as high-powered EME (Earth-Moon-Earth) stations. The report says it is likely that some changes will be needed in the way that hams use the band.
