QRP "guru" Joe Everhart, N2CX, passed away on May 14 at his home in New Jersey. He was 73. According to Newsline, Joe was a builder, designer and antenna expert who freely shared his knowledge of low-power communications, both in person and in many articles for various magazines.
Another ham author, Fred Cady, KE7X, of Bozeman, Montana, died on May 12. The ARRL Letter reports that Cady was a professor emeritus of electrical and computer engineering at Montana State University and co-author of The Successful Ham Radio Operator's Handbook. He also wrote several manuals on using Elecraft products and published five textbooks on microcomputers over the course of his four-decade teaching career. Cady was 77.
