Physicist and active ham Heather Flewelling, WH6FTQ, has had a comet named in her honor. She discovered the comet while working on an asteroid early alert system being developed by the University of Hawaii with support from NASA. Newsline reports that the International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center named her discovery Comet Flewelling in late March. On the ham bands, Flewelling enjoys activating summits for SOTA, the Summits on the Air program, and is active in nets and emergency communications in Hawaii.
