Jamboree on the Air Participation Reported Up Significantly

Preliminary "flash numbers" released after October's scout Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) indicate a significant increase in participation in 2016 after a drop in activity the previous year.

According to the ARRL Letter, JOTA Coordinator Jim Wilson, K5ND, reported a 51% increase in the number of scouts participating, as well as a 30% increase in the number of visitors, 28% more stations taking part and a 14% bump in the number of amateurs participating.

The annual event is intended to help introduce scouts around the world to amateur radio and to use amateur radio to meet other scouts in different places.
