The Senate Commerce Committee has recommended confirmation of President Obama's nominee for FCC Chairman, telecom industry leader and former lobbyist Tom Wheeler.

The President also nominated Senate staffer Michael O'Rielly to fill the Republican FCC seat made vacant by the resignation of Commissioner Robert McDowell.

According to the ARRL, the full Senate was expected to confirm both nominations - perhaps both at the same time - after returning from its summer recess.
