It seems like just about everyone wanted a piece of May's royal wedding in the United Kingdom of Prince Harry and American Meghan Markle, so why not hams, too?

Newsline reports that Britain's Cray Valley Radio Society operated special event station GB9RW (thought to be the first time a 9 was used in a British special event call) from May 19 through the 23rd, on all bands from 80 meters through 70 centimeters.

The society reports that its operators made more than 8500 QSOs in the five-day period. A commemorative QSL card is available to anyone who contacted the station.
