Chris Smith, W4HMV, of Sparks, Nevada, is among a dozen people newly appointed to the Federal Emergency Management Agency's National Advisory Council by FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate, KK4INZ. Smith is the Chief of the Nevada Division of Emergency Management/Homeland Security and is responsible for coordinating statewide emergency planning efforts, according to the division website. In addition, he is the Governor's Homeland Security Advisor. According to FEMA, the National Advisory Council provides recommendations to the Administrator on a variety of emergency management issues.
