John Lindholm, W1XX, has stepped
down as director of the CQ World Wide VHF Contest after ten years at its helm.
During his tenure, participation in the annual July competition quintupled.
Lindholm said he felt it was time for "new blood" to lead the contest
in the future. John is also campaigning for a seat in the Rhode Island state
legislature.
Steve Bolia, N8BJQ, has agreed to
step into John's shoes. In addition to his current responsibilities as WPX
Award Manager, Steve has already been helping John with VHF Contest
log-checking for the past several years, so he is well-equipped to hit the
ground running, starting with the 2012 contest this coming weekend.
We thank both John and Steve for
their many contributions to CQ and to amateur radio.
