The FCC has assessed a fine of $18,000 against Jerry
Materne, KC5CSG, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, for allegedly causing interference
on a local repeater and failing to properly identify his station. According to
the FCC, one of its field agents observed Materne causing intentional
interference by transmitting digital noise into an analog radio on the
repeater's frequency, and failing to identify his transmissions. The Commission's Forfeiture Order specified that the fine was $7000 for causing interference, $1000 for failure to identify, and $10,000 for "repeated, intentional, and egregious violations of the Commission's rules."
