FCC Denies Appeal of License Revocation

In a case that's more than a decade old, the FCC has denied an appeal of an administrative law judge's ruling that the license of William Crowell, W6WBJ, should not be renewed. In 2007, according to the ARRL Letter, Crowell's renewal application was designated for hearing on the basis of charges that he was responsible for causing intentional interference and other violations.

The law judge had concluded that Crowell's failure to attend a hearing in Washington, DC, "which requires dismissal if an applicant fails to commit to appear on the date fixed for hearing." Crowell, who lives in California, claimed he couldn't afford to travel to Washington for the hearing, but the law judge denied his request to move the hearing to Sacramento. The full Commission affirmed the judge's original ruling.
