The Smithsonian Institution Amateur Radio Group
is reactivating long-dormant club station NN3SI, which has been off the air since
losing its station space during renovation work in 2008. There is still no
permanent station location, but club members plan remote and mobile activations
during contests and special events, according to the ARRL Letter.
The group is newly organized and hopes that
reactivating the station can provide the Smithsonian with additional resources for
emergency communications and science/technology/engineering/math (STEM) educational
programs.
