The International Amateur Radio Union's Region 1 Monitoring
System is reporting the return of over-the-horizon radar signals originating
from Russia on the 20, 15 and 10-meter bands. Similar signals disrupted the ham
bands during the Cold War and at the time were dubbed the Russian
"woodpecker" because of the rat-a-tat-tat sound the signals make. According
to
Newsline, the report also cites ongoing interference from Russian
taxicab drivers using FM on the low end of 10 meters.
